Emergency Preparedness Tips

  • Get to know your neighbors – We are more likely to help, and to be helped by, neighbors than a first-responder
  • Label the cables for your rechargeable devices, and keep them together.
  • It will be a cash economy following a major disaster and ATM’s will not work without power. Consider how much cash you will want to have available while the power is out.
  • Locate the pull bar on your garage door. Electric garage doors will not open during a power outage.
  • Keep the fuel tank on your car half full. Many gas stations can not pump gas when the power is out.
  • Food Safety Tips During and after a power outage
