I have, a few months ago, submitted a three page questioning of several items in our AC guidance document. At approximately 92 pages, it’s an intimidating read. I asked if several, older, statements/restrictions might be reviewed and be stricken. Also that a simple “bullet list” be written as a cover page.
      I received no reply.
One recent gripe I have is that of the reroofing of the Cinder Come Lookout platform. This is an historical structure, not a residence, built decades ago. When it was determined to need a new roof, the approving committee cites that our rules no longer allow shake roofing materials. Period.
I would like to see exemptions be allowed in some circumstances. In the case of the Cinder Cone Lookout, and the yet to be reroofed gazebo, neither of them are residences. I assume that the prohibition to wooden shake roofs is based on fire risk. That risk would be to an inhabited structure, of high value, containing occupants, pets and belongings.
As purely historical, these structures should be maintained in their original form. Ask yourself whether or not an old cabin, preserved for its historical significance, be upgraded with modern materials?

I’m going to use this as a place to store notes about trees, and hazards that I see.
There are several double top, forked top, “schoolmarm” trees on this property. Having a multiple top, a conifer is weakened. These kind of trees are prone to splitting at the fork.

To date I am subscribed to every topic and have had no notifications so I don’t think its working.
Also, after visiting with Dena, and hearing her frustrations with OneDrive and the office emails, are there email accounts available to them from you? I assume they own the Little Whale Cove domain, so I’d think they wouldn’t need to continue using (and paying for) the MS Outlook and Office and all. The other thing I’d like to get them to is storing their files on a local in house server or NAS, and dumping the frustrating and expensive OneDrive. As it stands now, to resolve any issues with OneDrive they have to pay a support person (at $125 hr) to get things back to working. That’s ridiculous.

I recently was in need of an emergency repair of some siding. At some point, possibly years before I bought this house, the front porch handrail became detached from the wall, allowing rain into the wall.
I saw a posting on NextDoor by another Little Whale Cove resident, giving praise to Scott of Handyman Plus LLC. I made contact with him, texted him some photos, got a rough estimate and a firm start date and time. He indeed was here at that time, well prepared and went right to work.
His work was without flaw, and his charges were surprisingly reasonable. I think, for many of us, going into any upgrade or repair we have no idea what things will cost. I was happy to pay his rate and will use his services again, I’m certain. He is licensed and insured and handles electrical, and plumbing and carpentry.
His contact info is Scott Whitmore, (208) 867-6115, out of Newport. His email is swhitmore1@live.com

I want to put in a kudo for the company Top Line Roofing. They are fair, swift, thorough, trustworthy and generous. If you need a name, ask to speak with Carlos.

Hey Justin, does the Subscribe do the same as the checkbox?
Also, I emailed you a while back about getting the 404 on many links to documents. Is this something I can help with?

Another topic might be for simple assistance requests, like walking a dog, help moving boxes to the garage, rearranging furniture, etc.

I just stumbled unto this. It’ll be interesting to see how/if its used. Just trying to imagine, maybe a place for residents to inquire about contractors or to post comments about those they’ve used. Also, maybe “looking for a ride” like to doctors or airport etc.
